Cha Cha Heels, or Else! Season’s Greetings, Bitches

15 Dec

Now, isn’t that special? This year, we’re celebrating a John Waters Christmas.

According to Dreamland, John sends signed Christmas cards every year to a select group of people. The photo above is from one of those cards and the rest are on view at Baltimore’s literary hot-spot, Atomic Books.

A John Waters Christmas can be summed up in different ways. He has a record (cover below) on the subject with such classics as: Fat Daddy by Fat Daddy, Happy Birthday Jesus by Little Cindy, Here Comes Fatty Claus by Rudolph & Gang, and Santa Claus Is A Black Man by AKIM & The Teddy Vann Production Company.

Waters also has a one man show, “A John Waters Christmas,” a unique story-telling experience about John’s compulsive desire to give and receive perverted gifts, a religious fanaticism for Santa Claus, and an unhealthy love of true crime holiday horror stories.

In a recent interview about the show, John said the most fabulous thing, “I’m always really frightened at living crèches. Whenever I see them, it’s such a Diane Arbus moment.”

In the spirit of gift giving, I looked around and found some creepy living nativity scenes for you. They are best summed up on JesusNeedsNewPR.net — thank you Matthew Paul Turner.

I also found a good number of creepy non-living nativity scenes like the one below. (Thanks to HuffingtonPost and Urlesque.com for an awesome overview of weird nativity scenes.)

Here’s a Zombie nativity scene from Etsy producer Fetish for Ethics.

But if a zombie nativity scene doesn’t quite get you into the Christmas mood, and you’ve already tried classics like The Grinch or A Christmas Story, then you’re my kind of Highkickers!

This is for you, from John Waters’ Female Trouble (1974). It just doesn’t feel like Christmas until an enraged drag queen screams “Fuck you!” and stomps on the gifts….

Mary Christmas and Happy Holidays to You and Yours!

Gold Robot Orders You Back to WERK: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4 Unveiled

13 Dec

RuPaul is back, and he is going to kick your ass – in kind of a King Midas/Bad Robot kinda way!

Season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race premiers on January 30, 2012 on LogoTV.  Get specifics and meet the cast, (including Jiggly Caliente, Madame LaQueer and Sharon Needles#90’s throwback), at logo.com

This time around the divas are competing for a little more – yes, there’s the usual headlining spot on Logo’s Drag Race Tour, a one-of-a-kind trip courtesy of AlandChuck.travel, and a lifetime supply of NYX Cosmetics. In addition, the cash prize is REDONK at $100,000. Find out more from Huffington Post.

Access Hollywood  and PopBytes are serving up some fab information about the upcoming season.

Exhibit A: Michelle Visage will NOT be on the show as a judge (WHAT?! are they thinking? Michelle totally gives down-to-earth-bitch-balance to the show. I’m just not sure about the chemistry without her.) That being said, guest judges will be Kelly Osbourne (kind of over her, actually), Jennifer Love Hewitt (bedazzled vajajays!), Pam Anderson (obvs), Glee’s Amber Riley (ugh, fine), Rose McGowan (I’ll take it any day), Jennifer Tilly (still love, but hope she got WELL PAID to jump the shark as Bride of Chucky….), Natalie Cole (her dad was cool), Regina King (Boyz n the Hood, etc.) and Wynonna Judd (AMAZING! Bedazzled EVERYTHING).

Get EXCITED! and, once the season starts, get weekly updates from your very own Highkixx!
