A little after the fact, but it’s about time for a spotlight on Miss Tyra Sanchez (aka James Ross). Tyra is RuPaul’s latest drag superstar who beat Jujubee and Raven to the prize this season.
It’s no secret that Tyra was controversial amongst the other girls, and even as the winner. For instance, while onstage as Tyra, James refused to change his very deep man’s voice, a detail that both Santino and RuPaul mentioned at various points during the season.
Even so, Tyra – an Orlando, FL native – showed some real star quality at only 21 years of age, and it’s a fact that Tyra never had to lip synch for her life during the show.
Here’s to hoping Tyra Sanchez can back up her sassy attitude with a successful career based on this big win on RuPaul’s star-launching series. We’ll keep an eye out for her…
